Amy S. Adkins

Amy S. Adkins is an Associate Attorney at Smith & Garg with several years of experience helping families and children navigate through the complex court system.  Ms. Adkins has chosen to focus her practice in the area of family law and has represented clients in various types of cases including divorce, adoption, modification, SAPCR, paternity and enforcement proceedings.  Being the spouse of a formerly active duty Marine has also given Ms. Adkins a strong understanding of the issues that specifically affect military families.

Ms. Adkins attended North Carolina State University where she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a concentration in Genetics.  During her time at NC State, Ms. Adkins began serving as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem in the local court system helping the court determine the best placement for abused and neglected children.  Ms. Adkins graduated a year early to get a head start on law school.  She went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she had an internship one summer with an organization that investigated claims of child abuse and neglect and the resulting legal issues for families.  Ms. Adkins received her doctorate of jurisprudence with honors from the school in 2005.
