What if a party still does not respond to a discovery requested, even after being ordered to do so by the court?

When a party refuses to comply with discovery, the court may impose sanctions against the non-responding party.  Sanctions are penalties against a party who refuses or fails to engage in the discovery process, without justification.  The court may strike a party’s pleadings, dismiss the case, impose fines or grant monetary reimbursement for expenses associated with filing any motions to compel (i.e., attorney’s fees).
