What are interrogatories?
One party may ask written questions to another party. In comparison to taking a deposition, interrogatories are usually an inexpensive form of discovery. There is no expense of a court reporter or transcript of the deposition. However, that is not to give the impression that written discovery is inexpensive.
To avoid evasiveness or vagueness in a party’s response to interrogatories, these questions have to be appropriately framed and cannot be overly broad. The number of interrogatories is usually limited to twenty-five (25) per party, depending on the level of discovery under which the case is being conducted.
