What is a deposition?
One party may require an opposing party or witness to appear before a court reporter and answer questions. There are limitations, however. Ordinarily, the deposition should be taken in the county in which the case is filed. And depending on whether the person being deposed is a party or non-party witness, there are also mileage limitations protecting against burdensome travel for a deposition.
