What is an express contract?

An express contract can be formed orally or written.  The key is that the parties communicate the terms to each other.  The terms in an express contract are conveyed by language – orally or written.  An example of an express contract is: Girl promises to paint Boy’s house, and Boy promises to pay Girl $475 and give her a bag of chips.
