In Texas, a divorce cannot be granted until the expiration of 60 days from the time the Original Petition for divorce is filed. Generally, however, unless the divorce is wholly uncontested and the Court’s docket or calendar is clear, it will take longer than 60 days to finalize a divorce anyway.
On average, it takes approximately 6 months for a relatively strait forward divorce. Of course, the more a couple cooperates, the more likely it will be that the divorce process will proceed at a quicker pace.
