How long does the divorce process last?

The length of the divorce process really depends on a number of different factors. To start, a divorce cannot be granted by the Court until 60 days have passed since the filing of the Original Petition for Divorce. After that, it really depends on whether or not there are outstanding issues which need to be resolved, such as custody and property issues. Contested divorces can last for a year or more and simple divorces can be resolved within 65 days, depending on the Court’s and the parties’ schedules.
