What is a Medical Power of Attorney?

Unlike a Durable Power of Attorney which governs your property, a Directive to Physicians allows a person of your choosing to make medical decisions on your behalf. It also allows the person you choose to speak with your doctors about your condition. Ideally, the person you choose to hold and administer your Medical Power of Attorney should act in conformity with your medical wishes. This is generally communicated in the Medical Power of Attorney and/or in the Directive to Physician.
